Carlo Altamura ha 59 anni ed è ordinario di psichiatria presso l'Università degli Studi di Milano, dove si è laureato e specializzato. Dirige il centro per il trattamento dei disturbi depressivi presso l’ospedale Luigi Sacco di Milano. I suoi principali interessi scientifici sono la diagnosi e il trattamento dei disturbi depressivi, bipolari e della schizofrenia, coltivati durante vari soggiorni in prestigiosi centri di ricerca europei ed americani. Sposato, ha due figli, è appassionato di ecologia, ama la letteratura americana, l’incisione antica e l’iperrealismo. Pratica vari sport tra cui tennis, nuoto e sci.
